You can make meals even easier by planning a breakfast or lunch at a local restaurant. Ask the park staff for recommendations.

S'more Varieties

Basic S'mores

Ingredients:
1 bag of marshmallows
chocolate bars
graham crackers

Preparation:
Toast marshmallows over campfire, then place them on a graham cracker with a piece of chocolate. Take a second graham cracker and mash it on top to complete.

Carmel Apple S'mores

Ingredients:

Thin apple slices
Peanut Butter

Toasted mallows
Preparation:
Cut apple in half and make two thin slices from each half. Remove any seeds. Spread small amount of peanut butter on apple slice. Toast marshmallow and place between apple slices.

Other variations:

Replace chocolate with peppermint candy chocolate or carmel-filled chocolates.

Use fruits like strawberries, bananas or pears.

Ziploc Ice Cream

Your kids will enjoy making, and eating, this ice cream made in a Ziploc bag.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar (or to taste)
6 tablespoons rock salt

Preparation:

Put milk, vanilla and sugar into a pint or quart-sized freezer bag. Seal well. Fill a large, gallon-sized freezer bag with ice. Add the salt. Put the smaller bag into the larger bag and seal. Shake and mix until the ice cream thickens, about 10 minutes. You can also let the kids gently throw the bag back and forth to help mix the ice cream. The bag gets very cold, so you might want to use towels to hold it.

Ingredients:

1 apple
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
