| Administrative Assistant (PG 15 - $12.39 - $12.78/hour). Part-time, year-round office work - One position, Waterbury Office only. Weekdays 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. four days per week. Back up reservation call center and assist with web development and design, data compilation and analysis, event coordination, form and document creation and management, photo processing and a wide variety of administrative tasks. This person works under the supervision of Parks Sales & Service Manager. Applicant must have superior knowledge of Word and Excel with working knowledge of Photo Shop. Exceptional computer and communication skills are also required. Candidate must have a good eye for design, the ability to pay close attention to detail, be a motivated self-starter and possess a fantastic work ethic. Candidate will be able to work efficiently and independently, as well as be of part of a team. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with Vermont State Parks and will have lived and played in Vermont for at least five years. Attendant I - IV (PG 5 - 8; $8.34/hour - $9.37/hour). General buildings and grounds cleanup and/or ticket seller with more responsibility in higher pay grades. Experience desirable. Park Ranger I-IV (PG 10-17; $490.08 - $676.80 per week, including overtime). Serves as summer park manager or assistant manager responsible for supervision of staff and park operations at a specific park. Ranger pay grades depend on size of park, complexity of operations and attendance. Previous experience in park operations and maintenance or college education in park management preferred, but technical maintenance skills not necessary. Basic First Aid and CPR certification required. Working in excess of 48 hours per week required. Weekend and evening work required. Smugglers Notch State Park Internship. (PG 5; $8.34/hour). Plans and executes visitor programming with a focus on the natural resources of Smugglers Notch. Performs the general day-to-day maintenance and operation of the park and assigned facilities when required. Position reports to Park Ranger. Twelve-week position June - August. Park Interpreter. (PG 10-11; $10.21/hour - $10.63/hour). Develop, publicize and deliver interpretive programs in one or two state parks. Conduct walks, programs and special events for children and adults relating to invasive plant and forest pests and the cultural and natural resources in the parks. Maintain program attendance records and prepare a year-end report. Work on various special projects related to education and invasive plant and forest pests. Requirements: Experience in teaching, public presentations and interpretive walks; knowledge of natural history, cultural history, invasive plants and forest pests. Training required in early June.
Lifeguard/Attendant - Button Bay State Park (PG 8; $9.37/hour)
Lifeguard at the Button Bay State Park pool and perform routine grounds, facility and equipment
maintenance with duties such as cleaning restrooms, raking and
removing litter from picnic areas and campsites, roadways, beaches, restrooms, etc; mowing and trimming lawns; assisting in tree removal; maintaining wood
supply; providing visitor information and assistance; visitor registration, being part of park
emergency team, minor carpentry, painting, staining, oil changes and other general
maintenance tasks. May also be involved with the secondary duties of supervising other
seasonal employees, assisting with accident/incident investigations, assisting with daily
reports and cash-out procedures and other related duties as assigned. Free camping, fishing licenses and entry into other Vermont attractions included.
