Work in some of the most beautiful places in Vermont.  We offer both full time and part time seasonal positions ranging from entry level state park attendants to experienced rangers and park interpreters.  Vermont State Parks are a great place to visit and to work, both our staff and customers keep coming back year after year.

Attendant I - IV (PG 5 - 8; $8.34/hour - $9.37/hour). General buildings and grounds cleanup and/or ticket seller with more responsibility in higher pay grades.  Experience desirable.  CPR and First Aid certification preferred.  Attendant III and IV may also be beachfront managers in larger day-use parks. Weekend work likely. Park housing usually not available.

Park Ranger I-IV (PG 10-17; $490.08 - $676.80 per week, including overtime). Serves as summer park manager or assistant manager responsible for supervision of staff and park operations at a specific park.  Ranger pay grades depend on size of park, complexity of operations and attendance.  Previous experience in park operations and maintenance or college education in park management preferred, but technical maintenance skills not necessary.  Basic First Aid and CPR certification required. Working in excess of 48 hours per week requiredWeekend and evening work required.   In-park residency is usually required, for which free housing is provided.

  

Park Interpreter I or II (PG 10-11; $10.21/hour - $10.63/hour).  Serves as a summer naturalist at one or two State Parks.  Responsible for developing, scheduling, and carrying out nature programs, hikes, recreation programs, etc.  Prior related education and experience necessary.  Requires working split shift schedules.  Weekend and evening work required.

State Trails Coordinator (PG18; $14.89 per hour). Experienced person to oversee number of trail construction and maintenance projects in northeastern Vermont working with VYCC, GMC and Northwoods Stewardship Center. Supervise the 3-person trail crew. Must have good supervisory and communcation skills and be ability to work independently. Chainsaw and CPR/First Aid certification perferred. Own transportation desirable; state or rental vehicle may be available. Position is for 38 weeks starting in March/April 2008. Apply to region 4 by February 15, 2008.

State Trail Crew Members and Crew Leader (PG 8 / PG 10; $9.37/hour - $10.21/hour).  Roving 3-person crew responsible for routine trail maintenance and technical trail projects in northern Vermont State Forests & Parks.  Crew leader responsible for team and work projects.  Crew will be traveling between work areas and may stay at nearby state parks.  Basic First Aid and CPR certification required.  Chainsaw certification required by one member of crew.  Must be able to work in back country.  Apply to Region 4.

Vermont State Parks Photographer & Visitor Surveyor

Travel to Vermont State Parks, take digital photographs and/or videos of parks, campsites, visitors, recreational activities and more.  Catalog and edit images for print and web.  Survey park visitors and compile data.  This is an unpaid internship, but we will reimburse for supplies and mileage.  Free camping, fishing licenses and entry into other Vermont attractions included.  Must provide own camera equipment and transportation.  Flexible hours and schedule.  This internship could be possibly be combined with other paid job duties and academic goals.  Contact Rochelle Skinner at 802-241-3665, or send a resume with letter of interest to rochelle.skinner@state.vt.us.
