Reservations

We request that you read through our online requirements and policies before making a reservation. This information will be very important if this is your first time reserving our sites online, however policies may be changed from time to time and we recommend you read through on each visit. When you are ready to make a reservation online, then click on the link at the bottom of the page.

Reservation requirements and policies

Listed below are requirements and policies for using our online reservation process. The intent is to provide a straightforward way for you to make camping reservations in our parks. If you have a complex reservation, or wish to reserve certain types of facilities (such as picnic shelters, cottages, and group camping sites) contact our call center.

1) A reservation can be made up to eleven months in advance of your stay. This changes on a monthly basis, so (for example) the whole month of July in 2007 becomes available to reserve in August of 2006 and so on. By November of each current year the whole camping season for the next year would be available.

2) All parks have minimum reservation periods. Most are four days until March 1 of the current camping season, after which they drop to two days. A minimum reservation period means that we do not accept reservations for less than that number of days. If you are not sure of the minimum period for the park you are interested in then refer to the “Quick Guide” for more information. Please note you may camp in a park for fewer nights than the minimum, on a first come – first served basis, the minimum stay applies to reservations only. Hikers, bicyclists, and paddlers may reserve for fewer than the park minimum stay, through the call center.

3) Payment is by VISA or MASTERCARD only! When making the reservation online you will need to enter the card-holder name, account number and expiration date, please have that information ready. A reservation is not considered confirmed until a credit card payment has successfully been approved.

4) A campsite may show as available on the park list, but you do not have a “lock” on that site until you send your credit card information to finish the payment process. It is possible that someone else may be trying to reserve the same site as you and may send the credit card information first. If this happens you will get an error message explaining the site is not available. If you navigate back to the site list page, the site list will refresh, you can then select a different site. It is possible that the site may become open at a later date if the other party cancels.

5) You may reserve campsites, lean-to’s, and cabins online. Facilities such as picnic shelters, group campsites and cottages will need to be reserved through the call center. Most parks are available for online reservations. A limited number parks will not be available, check the park web pages for this information.

6) Each reservation must be for one continuous block of time. If you need non-consecutive dates you will need to go through the online process for each separate block of dates. Each reservation block must meet the reservation minimums. You may reserve more than one site at a park on the same reservation, however each site must be for the same days and paid on the same credit card payment. If your needs cannot be met by this process, please contact the call center. They can handle complex reservations.

7) Although reservations may be changed or cancelled, you can not currently do that using the online process. You must contact the call center to change or cancel a reservation that is two or more weeks away from today, or contact the park directly if you wish to change or cancel a reservation that is less than two weeks from away from today.

8) The cancellation and refund policy is as follows: Tent, Lean-to & Cabin Camping:  If you cancel your reservation prior to 2:00 p.m. on the day before your expected arrival date, you are entitled to a refund of all fees except a $10 cancellation fee and any reservation fee paid, per site.  If you cancel after 2:00 p.m. on the day before your expected arrival date, or, if you come camping and need to leave prior to the end of your stay, you can receive a refund for the unused portion (except for the required minimum), per site, if you notify the park staff before departing.  No refunds will be issued for an unused portion of the required minimum reservation period.  If you are charged for the minimum number of nights that were in effect when you made your reservation, then the cancellation fee will not be charged.  Cottages:  If you cancel your cottage reservation 30 days or more prior to your expected arrival date, you will receive a full refund less a $10 cancellation fee and any reservation fees paid.  If you cancel 14 - 30 days days prior to your expected arrival date, you will receive a full refund less the equivalent of a two night stay;  if you cancel less than 14 days prior to your expected arrival date, you will receive no refund.  Picnic shelters:  There is a $25 non-refundable reservation fee.  The balance of the fees may be refunded if cancelled at any time prior to the event.

To cancel a reservation that is less than two weeks away from today, contact the park directly.  To cancel a reservation that is more than two weeks from today, call center.

9) A reservation fee will be charged for each site you reserve. If you reserve two sites on the same transaction, a fee will be assessed for each site. This fee is non-refundable. View the fee schedule to see the current charge.

10) You must create a customer account to use the online reservation process. This can be done as a step in making your first reservation or completed as a separate step before your first reservation. You will use your email address as the account user name. Although not required, it will benefit both of us if all members of your family use the same account to make reservations. Doing so will reduce the size of our database and minimize chances of confusion when later looking up what name a reservation is under.

11) All information collected is only for the use of Vermont State Parks (including contracted survey projects) and will not be sold or shared with outside vendors. Also be assured that all data you send as part of this reservation process is through a secure server and the data is encrypted for transmission. We do not keep any of your credit card information on our system!

You may use this reservation process to lookup the availability of your favorite campsite, without making a reservation. Just use the process until you see the campsite selection list, after viewing the list, then close the browser or navigate back to the park’s home page. Until you submit your credit card information, a reservation is not saved.
