Vermont State Parks' Top Five: Family Camping
Elmore State Park, Elmore

Located on the shore of Lake Elmore, Elmore State Park is perfect for first-time campers or families with small children.

The lake is relatively small and there is a large, sandy beach with boat rentals, a snack bar. The lake is fun for canoeing or kayaking and at the end of the lake there is a hidden little waterway to explore that feels like a big adventure.

There are wide, grassy expanses to play on, swings, a volleyball net and a picnic shelter.

There are a variety of trails to explore: The Fire tower Trail which - you guessed it - leads to a fire tower that commands amazing views of northern Vermont's mountains and valleys.
There is also a fun and easy nature trail and a family-friendly hike called the Beaver Trail.

The Vermont Youth Conservation Corps. (VYCC) presents fun campfire and other programs.

There is a general store just across the lake and Lake Elmore is close to the village of Stowe, where you may want to try out the Alpine Slide, take gondola ride or check out a movie on a rainy day. Also nearby is Cold Hollow Cider Mill and Ben & Jerrys Ice Cream factory in Waterbury.
